Sheffield Wednesday suffered a 1-0 defeat to Manchester City in the FA Cup Fifth Round, but supporters were pleased with the performance on the night and reserved praise for one player who was outstanding over the 90 minutes – Dominic Iorfa.
The 24-year-old started alongside Liam Palmer and Julian Borner at the heart of the defence and was a thorn in the City side all evening. Iorfa was dominant in the air while making more tackles and clearances than any player on the pitch. Fans were appreciative of his efforts.
Iorfa appreciation tweet. Was absolutely quality tonight #swfc

Iorfa is a absolute gem isn’t he easily Best Buy in our recent history ironic to say we threw millions on likes of rhodes abdi jones boyd yet a kid for 250k plucked from wolves bench is our most valuable asset and looks destined for greatness #swfc

Great to see some desire and hard work from the lads tonight and we looked better defensively organised ,against a strong city side , than in recent games.
Iorfa man of the match for me and Wildsmith did enough to be given a chance of starting at Brentford #swfc— Rich Thorne (@thorney811) March 4, 2020
Cant fault the teams effort and commitment tonight, that's all you can ask as a fan. Didn't get turned over as many feared. Bannan, Iorfa and Wildsmith stand out 3 for me. 👏 Worrying just how nakered we were by full time though ahead of Saturday. 🌬️ #swfc #wawaw

I think @JoeWildsmith has staked a claim for another crack at regular first team football there. Solid stuff from Iorfa and Fox as well #swfc @swfc #SHWMCI

The only players from last night who could come close to holding their own in the premier league are: Fox, Iorfa, Bannan (maybe Fessi too). There is a lot of work to do in the summer #swfc

So, last night then… City, as expected, dominated from start to finish but I actually quite enjoyed the game. Wildsmith deserves a chance as he was the stand out alongside Iorfa (who really deserves more than mid table mediocrity) #swfc

Against the Sky Blues, Iorfa had 45 touches, won two aerial duels, completed 60% of his 20 passes, made 11 clearances, gave away one foul, made two interceptions, had one successful dribble and made four tackles.
Iorfa has made 35 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring and creating three goals. The 24-year-old hasn’t featured a lot of late, but he’s likely to start when Wednesday lock horns with Brentford on Saturday.
How will Sheffield Wednesday fare against Brentford?
Win
Draw
Lose
The Owls will be desperate for a result to arrest their slide in the Championship. Garry Monk’s men are currently 12th in the table with 48 points from 36 games, having picked up only one win from their last nine.
