Jacob Murphy has come in for a lot of criticism from supporters over the course of the season and has lost his place in the side due to his inconsistent form, but the on-loan Sheffield Wednesday winger was hailed by fans for his performance in Saturday’s 3-3 draw with Birmingham City.
Murphy had an eventual afternoon – he scored an own goal, scored at the other end and missed a one-on-one. In the sixth minute, he inadvertently steered a Birmingham corner into his own net. In the 65th minute, he atoned for the error by putting Wednesday 3-2 up with a fierce effort into the far corner.
Where will Sheffield Wednesday finish in the Championship?
1st - 6th
7th - 14th
15th - 21th
22th - 24th
He should have been the hero in the 75th minute after being put through on goal, but Murphy failed to beat Lee Camp from close range. Birmingham then levelled late on through Scott Hogan to take a share of the spoils. Nevertheless, Murphy was still praised for his overall efforts.

Murphy is playing really well – running directly at players, putting crosses on #swfc

Jacob Murphy getting the goal to put us ahead but then missing the guilt edged chance to win the game for us is a perfect example of how up and down his form been for Wednesday. Feel somewhat more positive with that result than previous weeks, though #swfc

Murphy for me properly proving his worth last month or so, looks to be the quality player we was supposed to have signed back in August 👌#swfc
