Former Wednesday captain Darren Purse has signed for Championship club Millwall on a deal until the end of the current campaign.

The centre-back left Wednesday by mutual consent yesterday and he was always expected to move to The New Den to play for the club he supported as a boy.

The Lions have now confirmed taking the 33-year-old on a deal until the end of the season.

And he’ll go straight into the Millwall squad that will face Leicester City in the Championship tomorrow.

Millwall boss Kenny Jackett told the official Millwall website: ‘Darren brings great experience to the squad and strengthens us in the central defensive area where we are struggling at the moment.

‘He’s a Millwall fan and I’m sure he will relish the opportunity to play for this club.’
