With BBC pundit Danny Murphy’s ill-judged and totally uneducated words recently about new manager Steve Bruce’s delayed start to life as Sheffield Wednesday’s new gaffer, his apology didn’t quite do the trick when he finally found out the full story.
With Murphy and Ruud Gullet talking BS basically and compounding the issue by speaking over Alex Scott who actually had the audacity to do her research, Murphy deserves some credit for fronting up to his error, but in hindsight he may have actually wished he’d tried a proper apology rather than going with the ‘I didn’t know’ defence, given his job as a pundit is to actually know that which he speaks.
There will be those who feel he could’ve attempted to make up for his faux par on a more reliable outfit that Talksport as well.
“I gave an answer without all the information and that’s my fault.”
“I would never want to belittle anybody’s grief or stress.”

Suffice to say, the former Liverpool midfielder’s words didn’t quite find the intended spot amongst the Owls faithful.
You’re a pundit Danny, you GET the information, not have it handed it to you
Moral of the story: always do your homework.

SWFC fans and the club have supported the Steve Bruce situation from the start. Its just the media who seem to have a problem as usual. ????

Just so you know, all Wednesday fans are behind this decision and completely respect the decision he made to be with his family during January. I would go so far as to say we respect him more for this decision. End of discussion #SWFC

Getting fed up with all connected in football sticking their noses in to Steve Bruce appointment at SWFC. The fans and club are 100% behind SB and his decision to start in February. This seems to be some sort of issue with everyone outside the club and fans. ????

Always liked Murphy tbf but can't believe that even afterward he's still trying to make out as though Wed fans have any ill feelings towards SB taking care of his family first? Jim White actually backing Danny's original comments too ????????♂️.Gullit is literally worst pundit ever #swfc

Why is Danny Murphy speaking for our club, shown yourself right up, #thewednesday are 100% behind Brucey, your lack of true fact is embarrassing

If you're on tv as a pundit surely you do some research into both clubs not just the premiership team Wednesday fans and everyone involved at the club are fully aware of the situation and have no issues with it so get over it.

It's not rocket science to do a bit of research on clubs for a game you're going to cover

For me, fair play for fronting up, to be honest, but it should be a harsh lesson on both scores.
1 – Don’t be afraid to say you don’t know the facts.
2 – Form an opinion after learning the facts.
3 – When somebody with knowledge tries to tell you, don’t dismiss ‘her’.
