Wednesday will look to build on their first home league win of 2011 tonight when Tranmere Rovers make the trip to Hillsborough in npower League One.

Two Neil Mellor goals helped Gary Megson to his first home victory as Owls boss in the 2-1 win over Colchester United at the weekend.

And Owls fans will be hoping wins come like the proverbial London bus when the Birkenhead club arrive in S6, looking to make it a league ‘double’ following the 3-0 reverse in Tranmere in February.

Wednesday Team News:

Owls boss Gary Megson has the rare opportunity to keep his faith with a winning side for tonight’s clash against Rovers.

Home wins have been a rare thing this season for the Owls but they secured their first of the year against Colchester at the weekend and Megson will be tempted to keep faith with same starting eleven.

There are no fresh injury or suspension concerns for the Owls, but they could be boosted with the return of Rob Jones, who picked up the player of the month award for March.

Jones, on loan from Scunthorpe United until the end of the season, missed the visit of the U’s after suffering concussion in the defeat against Brentford last Tuesday.

He’s expected to be fit and ready to return tonight, but may have to settle for a place on the bench.

Isaish Osbourne won’t be included in the squad, with the club expected to announce today that he’s made an early return to Aston Villa from his loan stint at S6.

Player to watch: Neil Mellor

Mellor returned to the Owls starting eleven at the weekend and promptly netted twice to guide Wednesday to a much-needed victory. He’ll start again against Tranmere and will look to continue his goal trail.

Tranmere Rovers Team News:

Rovers come into the game four points behind Wednesday and in danger of relegation following their 2-0 home loss against Huddersfield Town at the weekend.

But they’ll be buoyed by the fact that put the Owls to the sword in emphatic style when they met in the reverse fixture back in February.

Andy Robinson and Michael Kay are the two biggest injury doubts for the Birkenhead club. The latter suffered an ankle injury in the defeat against the Terriers and is unlikely to feature, while Robinson missed the clash and will have a late fitness test ahead of the trip to South Yorkshire.

Strike Dale Jennings also suffered an injury to his calf at the weekend but is expected to be fit and ready for the clash with the Owls.

Player to watch: Enoch Showunmi

The former Bristol City man is likely to start against Wednesday, and Owls fans will remember him from a brief loan stint at S6 not so long ago. In typical fashion, he scored the third in Tranmere’s 3-0 win last time out, and will be eager to do the same at Hillsborough.
