Wednesday need to start winning – and fast.

It may be a bit of a cliche, but the Owls’ remaining fixtures really are ‘cup finals’, and Owls boss Brian Laws will need to go out fighting for all three points in each one, especially the home matches, starting against a new-look QPR at the weekend.

There was a point this season where Wednesday would have been looking at the clash with Loftus Road club expecting three points, but with the recent cash injection, the R’s have become a force to be reckoned with in the Championship – proven in their demolition of league leaders Stoke at the weekend.

But now there can be no excuses, Wednesday need three points on Saturday if they’re to have a chance of avoiding the drop to League One this season.

Vital Quotes:

Brian Laws told the Sheffield Star:

‘We could sulk for days and use the referee as an excuse – or we have to move on. We have moved on.

‘I don’t want us to dwell on this game. I want us to concentrate on the next one and make sure we get ourselves ready for QPR.’

Wednesday Team News:

Queens Park Rangers midfielder Adam Bolder, on loan at Wednesday, will be suspended for the visit as he sits out the first of his two-game suspension following his tenth yellow card of the season against Barnsley at the weekend.

Jermaine Johnson will also be missing for Wednesday after his sending-off against WBA which could see him out for up to four games, but Wade Small is expected to return to take his place on the wing.

Ben Sahar could be given the nod for the Owls in attack after starting his first three matches on the bench, with Enoch Showunmi the man likely to miss out should the Chelsea youngster get the start.

And Owls’ boss Brian Laws is also hopeful of adding a new loan winger to his squad ahead of the match.

Player to watch: Marcus Tudgay

Goals have dried up for Wednesday recently, with the only ones coming from the former Derby marksman, who has been one of the few showing any effort in a blue and white shirt recently.

QPR Team News:

QPR aren’t safe from the drop themselves and will be looking to ease their relegation fears against their drop rivals on Saturday.

Player to watch: Patrick Agyemang

The former Preston North End hitman has always been a handful for most Championship defenders and it will be no different for Wednesday defenders Mark Beevers and Richard Wood on Saturday.
