Garry Monk could ring the changes ahead of Sheffield Wednesday’s midweek clash with Luton Town in a bid to correct their poor form. One player likely to be given the axe is Joey Pelupessy. The 26-year-old underperformed in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Barnsley and was heavily criticised by supporters.

Pelupessy was hooked by Monk in the Barnsley draw and replaced by Kieran Lee -the 31-year-old wasn’t fit enough to start on the weekend, but he might be given the nod on Wednesday.

Pelupessy has struggled for playing time this season and only featured against the Tykes due to a lack of available options – Lee was returning from injury while Massimo Luongo wasn’t fit enough to make the bench. He failed to make a tackle, frequently gave away the ball and only lasted 66 minutes on the pitch.

Wednesday have managed only one win in their last eight league games and have taken a big hit to their playoff hopes. The Owls currently sit 11th in the table with 44 points from 31 games and are now six adrift of the top-six. They’re big favourites to beat 24th-placed Luton, but Pelupessy may miss out.
