Predicted: Garry Monk could make 3 changes, centre-back to start, 29-year-old to replace Lee

Garry Monk could make two changes ahead of Sheffield Wednesday’s trip to Charlton Athletic – Tom Lees could start, Fernando Forestieri could replace Kieran Lee and Jacob Murphy could replace Adam Reach.

How will Sheffield Wednesday fare against Charlton Athletic?

Win

Draw

Lose

The Owls are winless in their last five Championship games and desperately need to turn things around to avoid losing ground in the playoff race. Monk may tweak his formation to get a result.

With Julian Borner suspended for Saturday’s meeting at the Valley, Lees should replace him at centre-back. The 29-year-old was a second-half substitute for the former in Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Birmingham City.

Forestieri may be handed his first start since August. He impressed off the bench against Birmingham and could replace Lee. The 31-year-old has been substituted on or substituted off in 12 of his 15 league appearances this season, so Monk could drop him entirely to name another striker in the XI.

Wednesday have struggled for goals in recent weeks – scoring one or less in eight of their last nine games – so Monk could opt for playing a 4-4-2 against Charlton to end their winless run. Jacob Murphy replacing the struggling Adam Reach is also a possibility.

Predicted XI vs Charlton: Cameron Dawson; Moses Odubajo, Dominic Iorfa, Tom Leeds, Morgan Fox; Kadeem Harris, Barry Bannon, Massimo Luongo, Jacob Murphy; Fernando Forestieri, Steven Fletcher.
