Wednesday are set to get England’s Graham ‘Three Cards’ Poll at Hillsborough on Sunday to officiate in the FA Cup Third Round clash with Stuart Pearce’s Manchester City.

Poll, known as the ‘Thing from Tring’, was acknowledged worldwide for his antics in the 2006 World Cup clash between Australia and Croatia where he booked the same Croatia player three times before infamously sending him off at the third attempt.

And now he is set to take to the Hillsborough turf for the first time since the incident to take control of proceedings as Brian Laws looks to get one over on his former Nottingham Forest team-mate, Stuart Pearce, and take Wednesday through to the next round of the prestigious competition.

Despite his faults on the world stage, Poll is still regarded as one of the top officials in the English game and will continue to referee in high profile games in the Premiership and English cup competitions, as well as in European matches.

The man in black is also famous among Owls fans for his public falling out with Blades boss Neil Warnock – hopefully Poll will be liked in the blue and white half of Sheffield come Sunday afternoon.
