Former Blackburn Rovers coach Tony Parkes has revealed he could make a return to football alongside former Rovers player Alan Irvine at Hillsborough.

Parkes, who has enjoyed caretaker manager roles at Ewood Park and with Blackpool, has been out of football since the summer when he left Bloomfield Road.

But he’s revealed that he could make a return in a coaching or scouting role with the Owls – or Yorkshire rivals Leeds United.

Parkes knows Irvine and Leeds boss Simon Grayson well – he was assistant to Grayson during his stint in charge of Blackpool.

He told the Lancashire Telegraph: ‘I could go back now and work with Simon Grayson at Leeds or Alan Irvine at Sheffield Wednesday.

‘I’ll see how things go and make that decision at some point.’

The 60-year-old has vast experience in the game and would be a welcome addition to the Wednesday staff – should he choose S6 and not elsewhere.
