Wednesday youngster Liam Palmer played the full 90 minutes for Scotland U19s as they kick-started their Elite European Championship qualifying campaign in style.

Palmer, who won the Owls Academy player of the year award, was part of the Scottish side that beat Montenegro 4-0 in Croatia yesterday.

And the promising prospect is set for more run-outs on the international stage following good feed back to Hillsborough from the Scottish coaching staff.

“The manager reported back that Liam did really well against Montenegro and that is encouraging,’ said Academy manager Sean McAuley.

“This is an exciting opportunity for him and hopefully he will continue to go from strength to strength.”

He continued: “Liam is developing well and has already featured on the substitutes` bench under Alan Irvine and that is encouraging.

“The plan is for Liam to continue that development as a first-year professional and to make sure his progress is ongoing.”

Nice one, Liam!
