Contrary to our report earlier today, Wednesday will not be reinstated to the Championship, regardless of the situation at Crystal Palace.

It was thought that the Owls could get a rather fortunate early return to the Championship and be reinstated if Crystal Palace go into liquidation.

But it’s now been confirmed by the club that Wednesday will start the 2010-11 campaign in League One, regardless of Palace’s situation.

It’s due to rules stating that if such an event of Palace going into liquidation after the conclusion of the Football League Play-Offs, then the division would operate with a reduced number of teams.

It’s no surprise, and it means Wednesdayites can put to bed any thoughts of playing Championship football next season.

Good luck to Palace in their bid to avoid going into liquidation today.
