New Owls boss Dave Jones will take charge of his new team for the first time tonight when Bury visit Hillsborough in npower League One.
Jones, appointed as Wednesday manager last Friday, sat in the stands as the Owls could only manage a draw at relegation-threatened Rochdale.
But he’ll take charge of first-team affairs against the Gigg Lane club tonight and look for three crucial points in the battle for promotion.
New Owls boss Dave Jones told the Sheffield Star:
‘What I`ve said to the players is they`re in a fantastic position. I`m looking to add to that.
‘They seem a really good bunch. They all stick together. You can see that in training. They work hard.
‘The biggest thing we have seen so far is there`s a lot of competition. I`ve also said to them they`ve done all right so far; can they go one stage further?’
Wednesday Team News:
Who knows what Wednesday fans can expect for a starting eleven tonight as Dave Jones takes full control for the first time.
Jones could well make a whole host of changes to his starting eleven, especially after sitting in the stands as Wednesday drew 0-0 with Rochdale at the weekend.
Defender Reda Johnson is the only player who could miss out through a hamstring injury, but he’ll be given until the last minute to prove his fitness.
Other than that, the Owls have no fresh injury or suspension concerns.
Former Bury players Ryan Lowe and Mike Jones will both be keen to feature.
Player to watch: Dave Jones
Not a player, but he’ll be the man everyone’s watching in the dugout tonight. He’ll be looking for impressive performances from all eleven starters at S6 tonight.
Bury Team News:
Giles Coke will be unavailable to feature against his parent club as part of the loan agreement between Wednesday and Bury.
Coke is on-loan at Gigg Lane until the end of the season after agreeing a switch in January.
Bury have no other injury or suspension doubts going into the match.
They haven’t won since mid-January but will come into the game boosted by their come-from-behind 3-3 draw with Huddersfield Town at the weekend.
Player to watch: Steve Schumacher
Schumacher has been a regular in Bury’s midfield and has also chipped in with five goals so far this term.
