Wednesday are one Championship club who are set to benefit from the unfortunate news that Crystal Palace have gone into administration this week.

First thing’s first, and Warnock jokes aside, it’s never nice to see a club strugglinng financially, Wednesdayites should know this all too well.

But Crystal Palace’s decision to go into administration yesterday could be of benefit for the Owls and Alan Irvine.

Although not officially deducted yet, Palace face a ten point penalty by the Football League for going into administration.

That will mean, as things stand, that Wednesday would move above the Selhurst Park club by a point.

Star players such as Victor Moses are also set to leave the Croydon club, meaning boss Warnock will be up against it in leading Palace in a relegation fight, rather than a promotion race, this season.

It’s an unfortunate way to move up the Championship table for the Owls, but one that few Wednesdayites will grumble at from a purely selfish point of view.

All the best, Palace…
