Owls boss Gary Megson has confirmed that he’s looking to sign West Ham duo Benni McCarthy and Herita Ilunga on loan.

Megson has been looking to bolster his squad – struggling in npower League One – since his arrival at Hillsborough but has yet to complete any signings.

The Owls, thanks to chairman Milan Mandaric, made five signings in the January transfer window under former boss Alan Irvine.

But things have yet to pick up at S6 and Mandaric has promised to fund more signings to help the Owls start climbing the table – with McCarthy, a striker, and Ilunga, who plays left-back, top of the Owls’ wanted list.

Megson told the Daily Mail: ‘We are trying to get both players in and the two clubs have been in dialogue for a few days.’

Both have fallen down the pecking order at the Barclays Premier League club and are keen to get some first team football before now and the end of the season.

And Mandaric is understood to have given the green light to sign the duo, with the Hammers expected to help out by paying the bulk of their wages.
