Owls fans fearing a collapse of a takeover of the club can put their fears to bed after Geoff Sheard and his consortium revealed that the deal was still very much on track.

Sheard revealed his interest in Wednesday weeks ago but Owls fans grew frustrated at the lack of action in recent weeks.

But Sheard has revealed to Wednesdayite chairman Darryl Keys that the deal is still on track and that it could be done and dusted as early as in the next few weeks, or before the end of the season at the latest.

Keys told the Sheffield Star: ‘I have been reassured that things are going to plan. The lawyers are on to it, the accountants are on to it.’

He added: ‘I can understand everybody’s frustration – I’m sure the club are frustrated as well. We feel the same way, and I am sure Geoff Sheard does, but these things can be very complex.’

Sheard revealed that the deal was taking longer than expected because of the complexity of the situation but is still confident that it can be completed sooner rather than later.

And Keys also revealed to the Star that another party were still showing interest in investing in the club and were keeping a keen eye on Sheard’s consortium.
