Wednesday boss Gary Megson will step up his search to bring a goalkeeper on loan to Hillsborough this week following an injury to Nicky Weaver.

Weaver, Wednesday’s regular number one, missing the trip to Southampton at the weekend, with the inexperienced Richard O’Donnell taking over in goal, and is set to miss the rest of the season with a groin injury.

The injury blow means Megson will look to bring in an emergency loan signing and not risk using the inexperience of O’Donnell, despite a good performance at St Mary’s, as the Owls look to avoid relegation from npower League One.

Megson will hope to have someone in for Wednesday’s next game at Dagenham & Redbridge next Saturday and will have no shortage in cash to get his man.

It could be a tricky process though, with teams keen to keep their squads at full strength as the season reaches its ‘business’ end.

Keep checking Vital Wednesday for any transfer rumours and done deals.
