Wednesday retained second spot in npower League One tonight as Huddersfield Town’s 43-game unbeaten run came to an end with a 2-0 loss at leaders Charlton Athletic.

The Terriers, the form side of the Football League thanks to their record-breaking run, could have leapfrogged back above Wednesday tonight had they avoided defeat at The Valley.

But Chris Powell’s men showed just why they’re favourites for promotion with what turned out to be a convincing win over Lee Clark’s men.

It means the Owls will stay in second for almost two weeks at least, with the FA Cup taking priority next weekend.

Charlton are now seven points clear at the top of League One thanks to tonight’s impressive win.
