Owls Set To Make Gerrard Move

No, not Steven, but Wednesday are set to make a move to bring Cardiff City centre-back Anthony Gerrard to Hillsborough on a loan deal this week.

Owls boss Alan Irvine still wants to add another defender to his squad to take the tally to eight and Gerrard is understood to be his man.

The former Walsall defender has been told he can leave the Welsh club by boss Dave Jones after falling down the pecking order at the Championship club.

A deal is thought to be a loan one given Wednesday’s current financial situation but it could be with a view to a permanent transfer.

The move is set to heighten speculation linking Mark Beevers with a move away from S6 but it’s thought any move for Gerrard would be initially as cover.
