Breaking news last night from Sky Sports that Wednesday have declined Hull City`s bid for Owls midfield maestro Barry Bannan.

The former Premier League relegation battlers had moved for the Owls Scottish international as Hull manager Leonid Slutsky needs a replacement for Sam Clucas who has completed a £16.5m move to Swansea City.

Bannan, is a key part of the current Owls side and has started the new EFL season in fine form headlined by a sublime strike and a solo run from his own half against Chesterfield in the EFL Cup first round. Bannan already a Hillsborough fan favourite has made 87 appearances finding the net four times and earned a recall to the Scottish national team.

Bannan also penned a revised three-and-a-half-year contract extension in January 2016.
