Wednesday will be preparing themselves for a bid for striker Marcus Tudgay from Blackpool in the next few days, if today’s locla and national press are to be believed.

The Premier League side have been linked a bid for the former Derby County hitman all summer and have already had a bid turned down from the Owls.

But Ian Holloway is set to return with an improved offer for Tudgay before the close of the transfer window next Tuesday.

Holloway was at Wednesday’s Carling Cup clash at Scunthorpe on Tuesday night, believed to be looking at Tudgay – who scored a penalty in the 4-2 loss at Glanford Park.

Today’s local and national press are suggesting a fee between £600,000 – £800,000 for Tudgay – and it’ll be a tempting offer for Wednesday just days before the close of the transfer window.

It’ll certainly be interesting to see if Tudgay’s name is mentioned by boss Alan Irvine in today’s pre-Hartlepool United press conference at Middlewood Road, and also interesting to see if he’s included in Saturday’s squad.
