Reports within The Sun, state that Ameobi, 33, who is best known for his time at Newcastle United. Scoring 79 goals in 397 games, but was released by Crystal Palace last season.

Since then, the Nigerian international has been without a club. With October a few days away Ameobi remains without a club but has attracted interest from the likes of Wolves and Huddersfield.

As fans know the club are in the market for another striker, despite both Nuhiu and Joao netting one each yesterday and Forestieri bagging one in the Owls last home match.

It’s stated by The Sun that Ameobi aims to net a deal with Wednesday during a proposed trial over the coming week.

Ameobi has clear strength and aerial ability plus as a veteran striker his experienced presence in attack for Wednesday to could be needed at times. HITC sport add that Ameobi could be an ideal mentor for the raw but physically gifted Lucas Joao.
