Out-of-favour Wednesday midfielder David Prutton is set for a three-month loan move to Scunthorpe United.

The former Nottingham Forest, Leeds United and Southampton man has fallen down the pecking order at Hillsborough and will move to Glanford Park for more regular game time, according to BBC Radio Sheffield.

Prutton arrived at Wednesday last summer under Gary Megson and was a bit-part player in the Owls’ promotion success last term.

But since the arrival of Dave Jones the midfielder has struggled to break into his first-team plans and, with new arrivals also coming in, has fallen out of favour.

He signed a two-year contract with Wednesday but will spend the next three months at the League One club and may well have played his last game for the Owls.
