Wednesday have completed a deal to sign Charlton Athletic’s out-of-contract midfielder Jose Semedo.

The 26-year-old former Sporting Lisbon midfielder has been linked with a move to Hillsborough all summer and he’s finally put pen-to-paper on a three-year deal.

The Addicks were keen to keep the Portuguese man and a number of other clubs were understood to be tracking the 26-year-old but Wednesday have won the race for his signature.

Semedo was Charlton’s player of the year last season and was also their captain in the second half of the season.

He’s a holding midfielder who can also play at centre and becomes Wednesday’s fourth signing of the close season so far after David Prutton, Rob Jones and Julian Bennett.
