Wednesday are being linked with a loan move for Reading’s highly-rated winger Michail Antonio.

The Owls are understood to have made an approach for the services of the 21-year-old already this season but were knocked back due to the uncertainty over the future of Jimmy Kebe.

Reports in the Midlands are saying Owls boss Gary Megson is still chasing Antonio’s services, however, as the Owls look to new players to help get their promotion-chasing campaign back on track following a recent blip.

The London-born midfielder has already spent a successful three-month loan stint in League One with Colchester United earlier in the season and actually played at Hillsborough when Wednesday ran out 2-0 winners over the U’s in October.

He was a fans’ favourite with Colchester and the U’s tried to get him back but were knocked back in their approach.

Antonio has been featuring in the Royals’ first-team of late and its unknown if Reading would now be prepared to let him go, although he could be now used mainly as a substitute due to Kebe’s secured place out on the wing.

Antonio has made 23 appearances for Colchester and Reading this season, scoring four goals.
