Wednesday have been linked with a move for Preston North End striker Iain Hume in the January transfer window..

The Owls are thought to be one of a number of clubs, including League One rivals Huddersfield Town, to be keen on the services of the former Leicester City and Barnsley man, according to Skysports.com.

It’s the second time in a week the Owls and the Terriers have been linked with the same player, with Wednesday’s on-loan winger Ben Marshall attracting the interest of both club’s on a permanent deal in the New Year.

Hume has netted six goals for the Deepdale club so far in a disappointing campaign for the Lilywhite, but has suffered injuries along the way.

Preston are understood to be keen to hang on to the former Tranmere Rovers man but Wednesday and Town have the financial clout to force North End’s hand.
