The Owls’ season ended less than two weeks ago but already the transfer rumours have heated up as boss Alan Irvine builds for the League One campaign.

Hartlepool United midfielder Ritchie Jones is the latest name to be linked with a Hillsborough switch after making it clear that he wants to leave Victoria Park.

The 23-year-old former Manchester United youngster is thought to be being tracked by a host of clubs including the Owls, Millwall and Plymouth Argyle.

Jones’ agent Peter Morrison confirmed the midfield man was set to leave Hartlepool this summer and that a number of clubs are interested in his services.

The rumour adds to the already-growing list which includes Preston North End’s Sheffield-born winger Chris Sedgwick, who will be leaving Deepdale on a free transfer this summer.
