Wednesday are among a number of Championship clubs showing an interest in young Falkirk striker Darryl Duffy according to Scottish newspaper The Daily Record.

Hull are said to be the favourites for the 21-year-old, who has scored eight goals for a struggling Falkirk side this season.

Hull boss Peter Taylor tried to land Falkirks top scorer in the summer but failed, and is said to have re-kindled his interest by preparing to table a £200,000 bid.

Paul Sturrock has been linked with a number of forwards – most recently Kris Boyd who has since moved to Glasgow Rangers. Hibernian striker Derek Riordan has also been mentioned as a possible £250,000 move to Hillsborough.

Duffy’s contract expires in the summer, but a fee would still be required for the hitman with him being under 24 years of age.

Watford and Cardiff City have also shown interest.
