Derby County manager Nigel Clough has confirmed talks are on-going between the Rams and Wednesday over a deal for goalkeeper Stephen Bywater.

The experienced stopper is currently enjoying a loan spell at Hillsborough as cover for the injured Nicky Weaver and Owls boss Gary Megson has already revealed interest in signing him on a permanent basis.

And Clough has indicated that the Rams are prepared to off-load Bywater to S6 in January, telling the Derby Evening Telegraph: ‘That is the feedback we are getting from Sheffield Wednesday and talks are ongoing about trying to do something.’

The 30-year-old has impressed since arriving at Wednesday on loan, making eleven appearances and playing a part in helping the Owls up to second in npower League One.
