Wednesday chairman Dave Allen has revealed the club are in discussions with a mystery Chinese millionaire about a cash injection or a takeover of the club in the summer.

The consortium in question were guests of Allen in the directors box for Tuesday night’s 1-1 draw with Plymouth Argyle – and preliminary discussions with the casino owner are said to have gone well.

But Allen has also revealed that a number of other interested parties will meet up with the Owls board in the coming weeks to discuss their proposals before anything is set in stone.

A club spokesman said: ‘A Chinese consortium have been in talks with Dave Allen and the party came along to the Plymouth game. Dialogue is ongoing.

‘There are a number of other parties that have been in contact with Dave Allen about the possibility of investing money in the club and these talks are also ongoing.’

Allen, who has been in the Hillsborough hot-seat since 2003, has already revealed that he wants a multi-millionaire to invest in the club and use it as his ‘hobby’ – and the Chinese casino owner in question could be just that.

It’s the first time Allen has come out publically and announced he’s been in discussions with an interested party – after previously blocking approaches from now-Leeds chairman Ken Bates and boxing promoter Dennis Hobson.

Wednesday will now sit down with two other interested parties to discuss proposals and Allen is hoping to have some kind of deal tied up in the summer in time for the new season.
