With the close of the transfer window just days away the Owls continue to be linked with a number of players to bolster the squad – this time it’s Derby’s Lee Holmes.

The winger has long been a target of former Owls boss Paul Sturrock at Swindon Town but reports from the Western Daily Press are claiming that Wednesday boss Brian Laws is ready to hijack the deal and bring the Ram to Hillsborough.

The Press reports Laws made an enquiry in to the winger on Tuesday and he could be prepared to offer the winger a lucratrive deal to bolster his attacking options following the sale of Chris Brunt to West Brom last week.

Holmes has already held talks with League One Swindon over a possible six-month loan deal with the club but a move to play in the Championship could prove too attractive to turn down.

The midfielder came through the youth ranks at Pride Park and has made 26 first team starts for Billy Davies’ men, notching two goals along the way, and has enjoyed loan spells at Swindon and Bradford City in recent seasons.
