Wednesday have moved quickly to re-assure the fans that the club won’t be going in to administration following the resignation of chairman Dave Allen last week.

Allen handed in his shock resignation from Hillsborough last Friday, causing some fans to worry that the Owls may well be going in to administration.

But Wednesday released an official statement on the club’s official site earlier today to re-assure fans that the finances at S6 are not threatened in any way since the departure of Allen.

It read: ‘In response to recent media speculation, the board would like to assure shareholders and supporters that the club’s finances are not in any way threatened due to the resignation of Mr David Allen as chairman and director of Sheffield Wednesday.

‘Regarding the club’s financial position, Sheffield Wednesday continues to have an excellent working relationship with the bank and there is certainly no threat of administration at this time.’

The club’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) is held on Thursday, where the club are expected to announce more details on the current situation at S6, and invite questions from shareholders.
