We ran a poll over the festive period to determine what division Wednesday fans thought they’d be watching us play in next season…and the results are IN!!

We asked Vital users whether the Owls could avoid relegation this season, or if it was too early to tell, and 66 per cent of wednesdayites who voted thought they would be watching Championship football at Hillsborough next season.

The voting took in a tough spell for the club, which saw the Owls without a win in nine and without a goal in seven. Despite that, voters still believed we had enough to beat the drop against the odds. Wednesday did notch up two vital wins over the new year, which may have prompted renewed hope in some Owls fans.

The poor form over the Christmas period may have had an effect on the 29 per cent who thought that Wednesday would be back in League One next season. No win in nine and a goal drought stretching over seven games left the Owls four points behind their nearest rivals Brighton, but two games later and the tables have turned dramatically with the club now sitting two points clear of the relegation zone.

Five per cent of voters said that it was too early to tell, and indeed it may have been in early December when things looked bleak. The addition of Deon Burton and Marcus Tudgay, along with other potential signings has brought renewed hope around S6 with an important month ahead.
