Wednesday fans have been snapping up season tickets for the 2009/10 campaign, with this year’s figure already passing the total amount sold last season.

The club announced on Friday that over 11,000 season tickets had been sold for the Owls’ forthcoming Championship campaign, 11,390 by close of play, which is eight more than the total sold last term.

And there’s still two months before the start of the new season, meaning Wednesday chairman Lee Strafford could well see the total edge closer to his target figure of 16,500.

The first deadline for reduced priced renewals ended on Friday, meaning the bulk of season tickets will have already been snapped up, but the club can still expect plenty more to pledge their support for the new season.

Only 6,298 season tickets were sold at the same period last year – showing a renewed spirit and optimism Wednesdayites have under the guidance of Strafford and boss Brian Laws.
