Sheffield Wednesday defender Morgan Fox seems no closer to winning over a section of the Owls fan base following his performance against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the EFL Cup in midweek than he was in pre-season.
The 24-year-old made the switch from Charlton Athletic for a reported £700,000 back in the January transfer window of 2017 and he now has a total of 44 appearances to our name, but he has only been called upon twice so far in the season of 2018/19.
His most recent outing came on Tuesday evening and with the visitors to Hillsborough booking their place in the third round draw, it’s fair to say he struggled on the night with their wide players given the talent.
He wasn’t the only one to struggle and he, Dave Jones and George Boyd came in for easy criticism by fans on social media as they gave their thoughts on the match.
It appears our entire left-hand side stood out for many for all the wrong reasons.
You missed the other fulcrum to that left side pivot off…. David Jones, which ever competition Fox won I can only assume he was the runner up. Night and day difference between either flank last night.

Morgan Fox putting in a performance tonight that Jon Beswetherick would’ve been proud of????#SWFC

Id rather just release Morgan Fox and David Jones and take a loss just so I never have to see them on a Wednesday team sheet again. #swfc

It is a crime that Morgan Fox puts on a Wednesday shirt. Why is he still here?! Same for David Jones! #swfc #CarabaoCup

Morgan Fox was at fault for both of those goals. Absolute donkey. I think Jos is right to play all youth players for the rest of the season, they're by far better than everyone else, and they try! #swfc

Agree!!

Not bothered about the cup, but, Boyd and Fox, can they even be classed as footballers?! #swfc

Laurel and Hardy would be a better defensive pairing than Fox and Boyd #swfc

If George Boyd and Morgan Fox never play for Sheffield Wednesday again it will still be too many times #swfc #LeagueCup #wolves #owls #wawaw

George Boyd and Morgan Fox killed us tonight. Massive weak spot was down our left, was it any surprise to see where both Wolves goals came from? #swfc

With Fox, in particular, coming in for similar criticism during the pre-season tie with Mansfield Town, at least this time around it feels incredibly harsh given he was up against Adama Traore and with little protection in front of him, he was always going to be onto a loser against a man who caused Manchester City problems recently.
