A second half comeback ensured Wednesday took a point against MK Dons at Hillsborough.

With resident goalkeeper Nicky Weaver out through a bout of the flu, youngster Arron Jameson came in for his home debut.

All eyes were on the young keeper, who made his debut in the reverse fixture and it wasn’t long before he made an impact, unfortunately for the wrong reasons.

Jameson brought down Keanu Marsh-Brown after he was put through by Luke Chadwick. The referee didn’t hesitate to point to the spot and booked Jameson for the offence. Peter Leven stepped up and put the visitors ahead.

Wednesday had started the better, but as in recent weeks had looked frail at the back and they were 2-0 down after 26 minutes.

Marsh-Brown was again involved, finding far too much space, he fed a tempting ball into the box which was slotted home by Daniel Powell.

Hope was to be given to the Owls, though, when MK Dons were reduced to ten men before the break.

Clinton Morrison skipped by Mackenzie who duly brought the forward down to earn his second yellow.

This gave Wednesday new vigour in the second period and the introduction of Paul Heffernan and Neil Mellor at the break ensured that they would at least try to get back into the game.

First Jermaine Johnson’s header flashed wide and Neil Mellor had a header on goal before Wednesday halved the deficit.

Played in by Giles Coke, Mellor fired a shot beyond Martin to give the Owls twenty minutes to get something from the game.

Buoyed, Wednesday earned themselves a point through Clinton Morrison’s instinctive finish. Coke’s corner was met by Michael Morrison and his header was diverted in by his namesake.

The visitors were then reduced to nine men when Leven receieved his own second yellow, but Wednesday, like against Yeovil couldn’t make their two man advantage count.

Plenty of food for thought for the watching Gary Megson. He’ll have been impressed by the second half spirit shown by his new players, but the defensive problems have to be sorted out and fast.
