Loanee Lloyd Sam could be set to extend his loan deal with Wednesday after his initial one-month contract runs out after Saturday’s clash with Derby County.

Sam made his debut for the Owls against Leeds United over the Bank Holiday weekend and has featured in every game for Paul Sturrock’s men since his loan move from Charlton Athletic.

And now the Owls boss is hoping talks with Owls chairman Dave Allen will result in him keeping the services of the youngster for at least another month.

Sturrock told the official SWFC website: ‘I like Lloyd, I think he’s got real potential and I think that perhaps that potential has been stifled because of a lack of competitive games. But I think if he was a long-term player at this football club we’d have a very exciting player on our hands. But that’s to be debated.

‘I’ve got to chat to the chairman and the board, and I’ve got to chat to Lloyd to see how he feels about things, and I’ve obviously got to talk to Charlton to see what they think. I’ll do that later this afternoon or tomorrow.’

The Leeds-born winger has made four appearances for the Owls since joining on loan, resulting in two draws and two defeats. He’s made three substitute appearances for Charlton but has yet to make his full debut for the Addicks. Sam has also enjoyed a loan spell at Leyton Orient.
