Wednesday boss Alan Irvine has confirmed that the Owls have rejected an offer from Championship side Nottingham Forest for winger Jermaine Johnson.

Reports this morning claimed that Billy Davies’ men had made a bid believed to be around £350,000 for the Jamaican winger rejected by Wednesday.

And Irvine has confirmed the bid, insisting that club’s won’t be able to take advantage of Wednesday’s current financial situation.

‘If anybody thinks that suddenly there’s a sale on at Sheffield Wednesday then they’ll get a bit of a surprise,’ Irvine told BBC Radio Sheffield.

‘I’m certainly assured that that’s not the case and I don’t expect that to be the case.’

Irvine has said Johnson is not for sale although Forest could come back with another improved offer for his services.
