Wednesday have today confirmed that they’ve signed Stoke City defender Lewis Buxton on a permanent deal after enjoying a three-month loan spell at Hillsborough.

The 25-year-old’s three-month loan stint was up after the 4-1 victory over Charlton Athletic last time out but he’ll be straight into the squad to travel to Nottingham Forest tomorrow after signing permanently.

Buxton has signed for a nominal fee on a contract that will run until 2011.

Owls boss Brian Laws told the official SWFC website: ‘Lewis showed a tremendous attitude and really impressed me during his loan spell, on and off the pitch.

‘He’s a versatile player, he slotted into a number of positions very well and has earned the chance to come here on a full transfer. Lewis is an excellent addition to our squad.’

Buxton is the Owls’ third bit of transfer activity in January, following the loan moves to Wolves pair Darren Potter and Michael Gray.
