Wednesday have made it two signings in a day after Owls boss Brian Laws revealed the club have brought Port Vale striker Akpo Sodje to Hillsborough.

Laws revealed the news on BBC Radio Sheffield on Wednesday night and Sodje, who won the Port Vale player of the year award last season, has penned a three year deal at Hillsborough.

The hitman, who bagged 16 goals in League One for Vale last term, has been linked with a move to S6 throughout the week but it was thought the deal had collapsed after Vale rejected the Owls approach of a player-plus-cash deal.

But the Nigerian has now put pen to paper on a three-year contract at Wednesday and could well go straight in to the Owls squad to face Bristol City at Hillsborough on Saturday afternoon.

Laws also revealed that he was hopeful Akpo’s brother, Sam, a centre-back from Reading, would complete his move to Wednesday before Friday’s transfer deadline after complications in the deal.

Sam was all set to sign for the club at the start of the week but unknown complications prevented a deal going through, and Laws has now revealed that another club has entered the running for his services.
