Cardiff City’s out-of-favour Northern Ireland striker Warren Feeney has emerged as the likely candidate to sign for the Owls on loan this week.

Wednesday boss Brian Laws had planned to bolster his squad with a loan striker from a Premier League club before tomorrow’s loan transfer deadline.

But with the deal dead in the water, Northern Irishman Feeney looks set to fill the void with a loan move to Hillsborough in the next 48 hours.

The 28-year-old former Leeds United and Luton Town man has struggled to make any impact since his move to Wales in 2006 and has made just two appearances from the substitutes bench this term.

He was loaned out to SPL side Dundee United last season and had a return of six goals from 18 starts.
