Wednesday chairman Howard Wilkinson confronted a group of Wednesdayites protesting at the current state of affairs at Hillsborough during Saturday’s defeat against Southampton.

Wilkinson and chief executive Nick Parker left the stands to meet the protestors as Wednesday slipped to a fourth defeat on the spin in League One to send them down to 14th in the table.

The protest, which we understand wasn’t pre-planned, questioned the current running of the club and the financial troubles Wednesday find themselves in.

It’s understood the protest started 20 minutes into the second half and lasted until after the final whistle, when more fans gathered following the end of the match.

And it probably won’t be the last time Wilkinson has to face angry Wednesday fans, with the Owls looking for better fortunes against Oldham Athletic on home soil on Tuesday night.
