Wednesday boss Dave Jones was left to rue the failure to award what he believed was a ‘clear penalty’ in the 1-0 defeat against Wolves.

Michail Antonio was felled inside the box under a Stephen Ward challenge but the referee waved away the Wednesday protests.

On looking back at the video, Jones felt aggrieved that the officials didn’t award the spot-kick and also at the decision to allow the hosts to retake the free-kick that ultimately won them the game.

“We`ve watched the video back and it`s a clear penalty. Michail Antonio has been caught in the area and it should have been given,’ he told the official SWFC website.

“Those are the kind of decisions you need to fall for you when you`re on a run like what we are, but they aren`t at the moment.

“The lads got in at half time with their heads down because of the goal and we had to point out to them what we had done and that we were still well in the game, but those moments do change games.”

Wednesday will be hoping Lady Luck shines firmly on them when they travel across the Pennines to take on Burnley at Turf Moor.
