Sheffield Wednesday enjoyed a 3-1 win over Charlton Athletic on Saturday afternoon and Barry Bannan was one of many players singled out by supporters for an impressive performance.

The 29-year-old has recently been on the end of criticism from fans, but he confounded his critics at the Valley and was hailed on social media as a result.

No Wednesday player made more tackles or created more chances than Bannan on the day. The Scotland international picked up an assist for his troubles too, setting up Steve Fletcher for the opening goal of the game.

Against Charlton, Bannan played for 90 minutes, made 70 touches, won one aerial duel, created four chances, had three shots with 67% accuracy, completed 82.1% of his 56 passes, made three tackles, whipped in five crosses and made one interception.

The 29-year-old has made 18 appearances in all competitions this season, making four assists. Bannan has missed only two Championship outings for Wednesday and has amassed 1377 minutes from a possible 1620.

After ending their five-game run without a win, Wednesday next face Brentford on December 7. Bannan will hope to lead the Owls to back-to-back victories.
