Sheffield Wednesday fans are very used to what Scottish international midfielder Barry Bannan can bring to the pitch when he’s on form and he’s got a smile on his face, and we again saw largely the best of the diminutive midfielder’s skills as we made the trip to the John Smith’s Stadium last weekend to face Huddersfield Town.
New manager Garry Monk was in the dugout for the first time having accepted the job over the September international break, and with goals coming from Steven Fletcher and Sam Winnall, it turned into a very good day indeed for Owls fans.
29-year-old Bannan has made seven appearances so far in the 2019/20 Championship campaign (five starts) and he’s already helped himself to two assists, the last of which came on Saturday as he laid on Winnall’s effort.
Taking to social media to react to his individual performance on the day, fans were delighted to see him skipper the side in what was his 150th league appearance for us and taking the victory just made the day sweeter given his service to us so far.
