Sheffield Wednesday could lose Steven Fletcher, Fernando Forestieri, Atdhe Nuhui, Sam Winnall and Fraser Preston this summer, as their contracts are up next month, so at least one replacement will be required ahead of next season.

The Owls’ lack of a transfer budget has seen them target loan players and free transfers, so they should be on the hunt for a prolific striker not getting first-team football. Nottingham Forest’s Tyler Walker should be considered as a result – he’s been linked.

Who did Sheffield Wednesday sign Josh Windass on loan from?

The 23-year-old has made since rising through the youth ranks in 2015, making 44 appearances in all competitions, scoring seven goals and making two assists.

Walker has impressed more on loan, however, netting 26 goals in 52 games for Mansfield Town (July 1, 2018 – May 31, 2019) and 16 goals in 34 games for Lincoln City (August 2, 2019 – Jan 30, 2020), so Wednesday shouldn’t rule out a move.

He’s made only one league start since returning to Forest’s first-team, so the Reds may be open to letting Walker leave next season. Time will tell. Wednesday need depth in attack, so they could do a lot worse than loaning a player boasting double figures for goals in consecutive League One seasons.
