Sheffield Wednesday’s 2-1 victory over Aston Villa at Villa Park last Saturday gave fans plenty to talk about and one of those topics was on loan Chelsea man Michael Hector.
The 26-year-old came into Hillsborough late on over the summer transfer window after our immediate financial issues were rectified, and in what was only his second appearance for the club, he put in a solid performance on his full debut and plenty of Owls fans were delighted with his efforts on the day.
Solid performance @Big_Hec35 won absolutely everything. Don’t forget to take @tammyabraham out of your back pocket.

Daniel Pudil motm today for me. Was close between him and Hector, but Pudil with Penney next to him was fantastic. When Thornilley is back fit Lees has his work cut out as we have 2 very good centre halves there #swfc

Rumour has it that Michael Hector got home, emptied his pockets and alongside his keys and phone, out fell Tammy Abraham and Jack Grealish? #swfc

Really like what I see from highlights with Hector stepping into midfield when we’ve got ball. Hopefully a glimpse into the future for us. Got to get that consistency now #swfc

If he carries on like that he’ll quickly become a fan favourite in my mind and given his age and the fact he has to have missed his opportunity for a breakthrough at Stamford Bridge, he’s definitely doing himself no harm at all when it comes to finding a possible new home come the summer as he bids to get his career really up and running as he won’t want to keep uprooting himself every campaign for a loan spell as he heads towards his 30’s – least I wouldn’t have thought so.
