Sheffield Wednesday confirm they’ll be without two players for Saturday’s meeting with Charlton Athletic – Liam Palmer, Julian Borner – but Keiren Westwood (shoulder) and Joe Wildsmith (fitness) are likely to miss out too.

Palmer is serving the second of a three-match ban after his straight red card in Wednesday’s 2-1 defeat to West Bromwich Albion (November 23). He sat out of the Owls 1-1 draw with Birmingham City (November 27) and will be absent against Charlton (November 30) & Brentford (December 7) too.

Borner has a one-game ban after picking up five yellow cards in the Championship – Barnsley (August 10), Queens Park Rangers (August 31), Huddersfield Town (September 15), Fulham (September 21), Birmingham City (November 27).

Westwood injured his shoulder which led to him being left out of the matchday squad against Birmingham. Whether he’s made a full recovery only days later remains to be seen, however, as Wednesday haven’t given an official injury update on the 35-year-old.

Wildsmith has recovered from injury and has been training for nearly three weeks, but he’s still building up his fitness and won’t be available for selection over the weekend.
