Official: Sheffield Wednesday midfielder fit to face West Bromwich Albion

|

Garry Monk confirmed in Thursday’s press conference that Massimo Luongo will be fit to face West Bromwich Albion after recovering from injury. The 27-year-old has been out of action for a month with a knee problem and groin issue, but he’s finally back in action and should make the matchday squad on Saturday.

Should Garry Monk start Massimo Luongo against West Bromwich Albion?

Yes

No

Luongo has made 10 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring two goals. The Australian international’s last outing came in Wednesday’s 1-0 win over Stoke City (October 22). Luongo’s injury caused him to miss the Owls’ 0-0 draw with Leeds United (October 26), 2-1 defeat to Blackburn Rovers (November 2) and 2-2 draw with Swansea City (November 9).

Joey Pelupessy and Kieran Lee have featured in midfield while Luongo’s been absent, so Monk will have a decision to make on his squad for Saturday’s clash. Wednesday come into their meeting with West Brom off the back of only one win in five games. The Owls sit eighth in the Championship table with 25 points from 18 matches and could move into the playoffs if results go their way over the weekend.
