Official: Sheffield Wednesday confirm defender will miss Nottingham Forest clash

Sheffield Wednesday have confirmed that Moses Odubajo will miss Saturday afternoon’s clash with Nottingham Forest. The 26-year-old is serving a one-match ban after being sent off in Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Derby County.

Odubajo picked up two yellow cards at the iPro Stadium and will now be forced to sit out over the weekend. Liam Palmer is available for selection, having recently returned from suspension himself, so he could replace the right-back.

Garry Monk also has the option to use Dominic Iorfa out wide, but the 24-year-old has been more effective in a central role so he might not be called upon. Losing Odubajo is a blow as it forces the Wednesday manager to tweak an in-form side, but the 26-year-old may have been at risk of losing his place anyway.

Odubajo has started each of the Owls’ last four league games, but his form has left a lot to be desired. Not only was he sent off against Derby, but the Englishman also gave away a penalty that cancelled out Wednesday’s lead, so supporters will hardly miss him against Forest. Odubajo may not return to the starting lineup against Bristol City (December 22) either.
